Our Story

Based in Libertyville, Illinois, Great Rooms Building Group has been recognized as one of the premier, award-winning, design and build firms in the Chicago North Shore and surrounding areas.

Originally known as Great Rooms Designers & Builders Inc., the company was founded in 2006 by the current president, Craig Wolski. After spending over a decade in corporate construction, Craig wanted to be more hands-on with the projects under his supervision. He wanted to visit every job site, be CC'd on every email, and to personally ensure that every project was running smoothly. In short, he wanted to take care of everything. It was with this mission that Great Rooms was built. Our clients love knowing that the president of the company is directly involved in their project, and Craig loves being in that role.

When clients choose to work with Great Rooms, they know that they are picking a team that handles everything. We do all of our due diligence so nothing is overlooked, and there are no surprises. We don't take on projects we can't handle — which allows us to manage all aspects of a build or remodel from start to finish. How We're Different

At Great Rooms, we believe in transparency and customizability, and we work to make sure every project is on-time and on-budget.

Accurate Budget Estimates

At Great Rooms, we review goals for your home and a cost analysis before you even sign a design agreement.

Early in the process, we partner with a team of architects who will draw up several design options for your project. During this phase, the sky is the limit! Clients can combine parts of plans they like and work with our team to find the design that will be the best for them. Each plan has a budget estimate attached so, as clients make changes to the design, they are aware of the anticipated cost.

Collaborative Interior Design

While the architects draw up the more detailed plans, clients work with Katie, our Vice President, on interior design.

Katie works with clients to select tiles, flooring, cabinetry and the fixtures for their new home, with transparency on what each item will cost. Once clients have decided on the pieces they want, we order them. This not only ensures an even more accurate budget, but speeds up construction, since all of the materials will be ordered as required by the project's construction timeline.

Due Dilligence

We handle everything. This includes acquiring permits and being mindful of local restrictions and zoning laws.

Building a home is a complicated process that requires an extensive knowledge of municipal codes, in addition to a series of permits. At Great Rooms, we take care of all of the necessary paperwork to make this process as stress-free as possible. We also stay in constant communication with our clients so they know how their house is progressing and what they can expect.

Meet the Team

Craig Wolski has been the president of the Great Rooms Building Group since he founded it in 2006. Prior to starting Great Rooms, he spent over a decade in corporate construction. Over the past 17 years, Craig has brought a personal touch to the home design and remodeling business, having personally overseen the construction and remodeling of award-winning homes up and down the Chicago North Shore and surrounding areas.

Katie Ceplawskes has been with the Great Rooms Building Group for 15 years and now serves as the firm's Vice President. She graduated from the Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago in 2007 with a degree in Interior Design and has been in the industry since then. With nearly two decades of home construction and remodeling experience under her belt, Katie loves finding the perfect balance of aesthetic, function, and budget in the design process.
